SIGNin’ in the Street

Thank you to everyone who came to the first ever SIGNin’ in the Street at Downtown Disney!  What an amazing 2 day celebration of Deaf arts and creativity.  Everywhere we went we met you and your enthusiasm for American Sign Language, the Deaf community, and all the great projects and programming happening RIGHT NOW!  Keep checking back for new footage and interviews of the full event.  All our coverage is FULLY accessible.

Sign World TV was proud to be a part of the planning committee to make this event possible. The awesome event hosted live performances, celebrities, films, interactive workshops, and it truly was fun for all ages! We encourage you to provide feedback regarding your experience at the event and invite you to be an active part of Sign World TV.

A celebration of creativity in the Deaf community

During this special 3-day-weekend event, embrace the social, technological and artistic accomplishments of world-renowned Deaf talent and local community organizations. This fun-filled, educational and exciting event is open to all — Deaf and hearing Guests.

Book signing with critically acclaimed and award-winning actress, mother, activist, role model and author, Marlee Matlin


2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Meet and greet with Linda Bove and Ed Waterstreet.

Linda Bove whose acting credits include Linda the Librarian from TV’s Sesame Street, and Sarah, the lead character, in the Broadway production of Children of a Lesser God.

Ed Waterstreet, Artistic Director with Deaf West Theater, will provide an enlightenment on their professional career and  they both will perform a poem in ASL.

     


2:25 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
2 Q & A sessions, meet-and-greets and autograph signings with the cast from ABC Family’s groundbreaking drama Switched at Birth. Screening at the AMC Theater of 2 episodes of Switched at Birth — plus, an exclusive sneak preview of the spring finale episode.

  • Switched at Birth Adult Autograph Signing: 2:25PM – 3:25PM
  • Switched at Birth Teen Q&A:  3:30PM – 3:55PM
  • Switched at Birth Teen Autograph Signing: 4:10PM – 5:10PM
  • Switched at Birth screening will start at 6:00pm – 7:30PM (Saturday only)

 All of the Disney Parks Blog special invitations to the “Switched at Birth” finale preview have been taken! Selected entries will be confirmed via email. Remember – you still have another chance to grab a ticket!  (Melody) and Sean Berdy (Emmett) from ABC Family’s Switched at Birth will discuss their characters’ relationship during a Q & A session.

Switch at Birth’s Sean Berdy (Emmett) will be at ABC Family Area signing autographs


2:25 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.

If you view “The Hammer” prior to this event you will get one free ticket to play game against Matt Hamill in ESPN Zone.

Q & A session with the filmmaker of “See What I’m Saying” Hilari Scarl, along with three entertainers; CJ Jones, Robert DeMayo and Bob Hiltermann.
